Callie was overwhelmed. She almost couldn't grasp all that had occurred in such a short time. The day had gone by so fast and nothing was in her control or had gone according to her intentions. Izzie was on the edge of death, George was the mystery patient who was mangled to pieces, and to top it all off, she had selfishly hurt and mistreated the one person who gave her any solace on a day like today. Callie almost couldn't breathe as she walked down the hospital corridor trying to clear her head, desperate to stop all the days events from swirling around inside. She darted inside the nearest on call room, sat down win defeat, and let her face fall hard into her tired hands.

Callie felt helpless as a doctor, but she knew she had done all she could do for George, and Izzie too for that matter. She just had to wait and hope for the best. After a few minutes past Callie relaxed a little and began thinking about her last conversation with Arizona.

"I'm sorry," Callie had said as she gently caressed Arizona's hand, praying she wouldn't tug it away and leave.
All she could do was look at the floor because she felt terrible. Arizona didn't leave, but her hand was lifeless inside Callie's. Callie could feel Arizona look down at her, and although she couldn't see her eyes, Callie knew they were full of hurt and frustration. Callie didn't need Arizona or anyone else to explain to her what her problem was. She knew. She knew when she finally looked up into Arizona's eyes. Into those amazing, beautiful, blue eyes which were now gazing on Callie with a mixture of anger and desperate need. Callie was pushing Arizona away, testing her, constantly getting support and never seeming to be the one to give it. She felt like a newborn now, a one way street, selfish, insensitive. 

'I am such an idiot,' Callie had thought to herself. 'I love this woman. I love her. And I need to stop fighting it, stop needing to be pushed and prodded into a mature relationship. I'm ready for this. So completely ready. And I'm going to give her what she needs if she'll still let me.' With that, Callie had stood up and squeezed herself between the chair and Arizona. Blocking the door, she was now facing Arizona, who still looked as if she might bolt at any second. Callie still held Arizona's hand as they looked at each other. Both of them knew Callie needed to say something. Arizona thought Callie was hesitating on expressing emotion, detaching yet again. But it was just the opposite. As she looked at Arizona, Callie was overcome with the feelings she felt for the woman in front of her. So overwhelmed, so regretful, so hopeful, that she was unable to speak the words to accurately explain what she was feeling. She closed her eyes and shook her head in a sorrowful motion, knowing that she needed more than a few great sentences to make Arizona feel what she wanted her to feel. Still eyes closed, she could feel Arizona's hand move ever so slightly inside of her own. She raised their hands and slowly pressed her lips into Arizona's
delicate palm. Arizona let her hand support Callie's regretful face as Callie was overcome with emotion and tears began falling from her closed eyes and onto Arizona's hand.

Callie usually didn't like being this vulnerable, but she didn't care. This time, with Arizona, she didn't want to run from it. She wanted to show her, to let her in. Though is was terrifying, she was ready open up the corners of her heart. Callie breathed out, her breath jagged with crying and moved to cup Arizona's face gently in her palms. Arizona's face had softened as she looked back at the woman who was allowing herself to show the emotion she usually kept at bay. "i...i'm sorry. I hurt you. I don't want to hurt you, ...ever. I...I want you to know...." 

"Calliope, it's ok," Arizona said softly. "I know you didn't mean it. You were worried about George. You and I were just feeling two different things today. That's all."

"No. No. It's not ok, Arizona. You have been so good to me, supportive, understanding, patient. And I need to be a better girlfriend to you if this relationship is going to go anywhere. I...I just want you to know that I want this relationship." Arizona was smiling slightly now. Callie kissed Arizona's lips tenderly and wrapped her arms tightly around the blonde's waist as Arizona encircled Callie's neck with her own arms. Callie buried her face in Arizona's hair and held her close for a few peaceful moments as they both sighed into each other. Callie's pager went off.

"Damnit. I have to go. But I am going to make it up to you. I promise. Just as soon as all these pages stop and it's just you and me. I'm going to show you the girlfriend you deserve. Ok?"

"Ok." Arizona let her hands fall from Callie's neck and slid them down Callie's arms before Callie smiled and hurried out of the room.

Now, as Callie sat in the on call room thinking about her day, she decided it was a good idea if she want home. There was nothing she could do here except feel the pain and terror of seeing two friends fight for life. She hadn't thought about the promise she made to Arizona after she was blindsided with the news about George and Izzie. Surprisingly, the seemingly imminent loss of two friends and fellow doctors made her even more intent to close the gaps in her relationship with Arizona. She texted Arizona to let her know she was leaving and to come over after her shift. Arizona quickly texted back "I'm so sorry. heard about George. am stuck in peds. be there as soon as I can."

Callie went home was and was waiting for Arizona to arrive. Christina was on call tonight and was texting updates to Callie if any anything changed with George or Izzie. Callie had made dinner to help her relax, and because she was starving and was sure Arizona must be too.
There was a knock at the door, and as Callie opened it, Arizona rushed in wrapping Callie in a hug to comfort her. Callie nearly fell apart again in Arizona's arms, feeling the weight of the day fully sink in.

"Are you ok?" Arizona whispered.

"Yeah, I'm ok. How was your day?" Callie replied.

Arizona, looking a bit surprised said, "How was my day? Well, it was nothing compared to yours. I checked on George before I left. He's stable. No change with Izzie either. She is still on life support. No on knows what's going to happen. Everyone is just so upset and panicked and..."

"Arizona?" Callie cut in.

"Yeah. What is it?"

"Thank you for coming and being so supportive. Thank you. After what happened today, it makes you realize that time is precious and every decision you make is so important because it can change everything. And...and...I did my best to repair the damage done to George's body, and there is nothing more I can do to help either of them right now except wait. But I made you a promise today and seeing George and Izzie nearly lose their lives only makes that promise more important. George and Izzie don't have time. But I do, and I don't want to waste it. That's why I asked you to come over tonight. I just want to be closer to you."

"Callie," Arizona barely got out. "You don't have to..."

"Shhh," Callie whispered as she took a step closer to the blonde. She gently held her face with both hands and pulled her into a kiss. She kissed her once and pulled back to look at her. Arizona was hesitant, but Callie wasn't. She leaned back in, and as their lips were just about to touch she whispered softly, "It's just me and you now." She kissed the blonde slowly and intently, and they quickly melted into each other, the days events intensifying the need to touch. Arizona's knees buckled and she let out a desperate moan as Callie deepened the kiss and Callie's tongue massaged hers. As she made love to Arizona's mouth with her own, she moved her hands down her back and pulled her hips closer. Callie needed her. Arizona could feel that. She wanted that. They broke the kiss when they could no longer breathe. Callie could feel Arizona was barely able to stand. She wrapped her arms tightly around Arizona's lower waist and picked her up so that her feet were a few inches off the ground. She held her there for a few moments, taking in the smell of her perfume, before she set her back down. "You must be starving. Come on let's eat. I made dinner."

After eating, they settled on the couch together each with a glass of wine in hand. They shared the couch, each at opposite ends with their legs outstretched towards each other. "Thank you for dinner Calliope. It was amazing."

Callie took a sip of her wine and gently rubbed Arizona's leg. "You're welcome." Then with more pensive look on her face, she said,
"I am so sorry about the way I acted today. I wasn't thinking.'

"I know. It's ok."

Callie put her wine glass down and took hold of Arizona's legs. She pulled Arizona on top of her own legs and looked at her intently as she rested her hands on her thighs. Arizona placed her hands on top of Callie's as she asked, "So is this what you meant when you said you just wanted to be closer to me?"

"Mmm...not exactly," Callie said still staring intensely into the blonde's eyes. Callie traced the contours of Arizona's face with a finger down her forehead, over her nose, her lips, and stopped at her chin, resting her hand under her jaw. Callie's head cocked to the side as she studied Arizona's face. "Do you have any idea how I feel about you?"

Arizona smiled brightly, her dimples clearly showing as she smiled into a tiny laugh. Noticing the serious look on Callie's face, she soon found herself matching Callie's intense expression. "I think I'm beginning to..."

"I''m in love with you."

Arizona's breath caught in her throat as her lips slammed against Callie's. Holding her face with one hand and burying the other in Callie's hair, she kissed Callie with an almost uncontrollable affection as a single tear fell onto Callie's cheek. Forcing herself to break the kiss, she looked into Callie's face with an urgency "I love you too, Callie. I'm so in love with you."

Her voice cracked slightly, and Callie kissed her neck as she tried unsuccessfully to catch her breath. She pulled Callie's face closer to hers when she felt Callie's strong hands pull her hips even further onto her. Feeling Arizona's back arch in her hands as she rotated hips into her sent a shiver down Callie's spine.

Callie wanted her so badly. She needed her. She wanted to feel every inch of her and she was aching to be inside of her. "Make love to me Calliope." Callie let out a whimper and moaned into Arizona's mouth as both her hands moved down to take firm hold of Arizona's ass lifting her up slightly, and pressing their hips so tight together it was becoming unbearable. "God, you feel so good...Ari...oh god..," Callie breathed as she felt herself losing control and reached between Arizona's pants leg with one hand while wrapping the other hand around Arizona's ass to pull her harder still. Arizona shuddered against Callie as she felt the latina's hand against her. Arizona's hands snaked their way under Callie's shirt, and she impatiently pulled it off her, kissing the exposed tanned skin while Callie was quickly taking off Arizona's pants.

Soon both were naked, completely breathless, and unable to contain the passion erupting between them any longer. Arizona still straddled Callie, whose grip on her was so tight and desperate Arizona could hardly breathe. They were upright, body against body, necks, arms and hands aching to get closer. Arizona moved to wrap her legs around Callie causing her to let out a desperate, almost painful sounding whimper, "God... I can't get close enough to you." Callie took a nipple into her mouth and kissed her fervently as Arizona's nails trailed down Callie's back. Arizona leaned forward and 

"I wanna feel you inside of me. Please," Arizona begged as she guided Callie's hand off her breast and towards her moist center. "I need you inside me. Right now." Callie pressed her lips to Arizona's as she let one finger slide into her. Arizona gasped as Callie rhythmically moved her finger inside of her, pressing on her with her thumb. "More," she pleaded, and Callie plunged another into her. Arizona bit
Callie's neck and then kissed where her teeth had left small marks. She began to pump and grind her hips against Callie's insistent fingers which now curled to hit a spot that caused Arizona to grab the back of Callie's neck for support. Callie quickly moved her thumb over her nub as the blonde threw her head back and let out a moan as she rotated her hips even harder against Callie. The motion of Arizona's hips was so incredibly sexy it nearly put Callie over the edge. She ran her tongue up Arizona's neck and she felt her walls tighten around her as Arizona let out a loud guttural moan and shook with ecstasy against Callie.

Callie swallowed the moan with her mouth and withdrew her hand to hold Arizona tightly. She placed light kisses against Arizona's face as Arizona slowly began to open her eyes and return her breathing to normal. Arizona leaned her head against Callie's chest, and after a few minutes she looked up at Callie and said, "Now I'm gonna show you how I feel about you." She stood up and yanked Callie into the bedroom. She stood in front of her and slowly let her hands and lips run over Callie's body from her shoulders down to her legs. She inched upwards placing her hands on Callie's hips. She walked her over to the bed and sat Callie down on the edge. She bent over and kissed Callie's lips. She broke the kiss and held Callie's gaze as she knelt down, pushing herself between Callie's legs. She intertwined their fingers and slowly began to kiss the inside of Callie's thighs, She teased Callie, inching closer and closer as she guided Callie to lie back. She let go of Callie's hands and held her hips in place as she slowly caressed Callie's melting center with her index finger. Callie moaned and Arizona parted the folds and gasped in delight as she pushed Callie back further onto the bed and now hovered over her. She bit her lip and looked at Callie's dark, full eyes. "You're beautiful." Callie's lifted her head and pulled Arizona's mouth down onto hers. Arizona pulled away enjoying the pleading look on Callie's face as she trailed kisses down her stomach. She felt Callie's entire body shudder when her mouth met Callie's heat. She wrapped an arm around Callie's leg as her tongue explored. Callie's hand found its way to Arizona's hair as two fingers make their way inside and coaxed Callie to the edge as her tongue danced over her nub. Callie writhed in pure pleasure under her. Callie's nails scratched at the sheets as she climaxed and her back arched as she let out a wail of a moan. She pulled Arizona's face up to hers and kissed her ardently, whispering "I love you" between kisses.

Grateful for having something good come out of such a terrible day, both slept peacefully with hope that only good news would come from the next page.
